Blur: How To's -

This is a help file. If it doesn't resolve your issue, please email me.

CHANGING BLUR INTENSITY -

1. Using ifile, or any file browser, navigate too the widget folder you want to change
- groovylock: var/mobile/Library/GroovyLock/*Widget Folder*
- LockHTMl: var/mobile/Library/LockHTML/*Widget Folder*
- iWidgets: var/mobile/Library/iWidgets/*Widget Folder*
- SBHTML: var/mobile/Library/SBHTML/*Widget Folder*
2. Click the HTML file. (Either Lockbackground.html, Widget.HTML, or Wallpaper.html)
3. At the bottom of the file, you will see code that looks similar too this:

	var vague = $(".container").Vague({intensity:7});
	vague.blur();
	$(".btn").on("click",$.proxy(vague.toggleblur,vague));

4.The top line is all that matters

	"var vague = $(".container").Vague({intensity:7});"

5.The "7" is the blur intensity,change it to what you want.

	var vague = $(".container").Vague({intensity:7});

6. Save the file, and place your widget again

I CHANGED MY WALLPAPER AND NOW IT IS NOT BLURRED -

1. You need to respring
	 - This happens because I use the Lockbackgroundthumbnail.jpg to make it so you don't need too copy your background to the widget folder in ifile. However, this file has it's drawbacks - it doesn't update until you respring or reboot. I'm still looking into an easier way to fix this

I WANT TO BLUR A DIFFERENT AREA OF MY WALLPAPER -

WARNING: this isn't as easy

1. Navigate to the widget folder in ifile or another file browser.
- check EARLIER DIRECTIONS from how to change blur intensity to find the folder

2. Find the style.css file (Just a heads up, any changes in the style.css file do not apply unless a respring occurs, or you copy the enire widget folder and paste it, I tend to to the latter)

3. FOR IWIDGETS:

Look for

		.container { position:relative;
		margin-Top:0px;
		margin-left:0px;
		width:320px;
		height:568px;}

To move the blur around you need to change the value of one of the "margin" styles. For example, If I want to move the blur down some, I would change it to this

	.container { position:relative;
	margin-Top:25px;
	margin-left:0px;
	width:320px;
	height:568px;}

HOWEVER, to move it up, you need to change "margin-top" to a negative number. (I like thinking about "margin" as getting farther away from. So the hight the number the farther away it is from the "top" or "left")

	.container { position:relative;
	margin-Top:-30px;
	margin-left:0px;
	width:320px;
	height:568px;}

3. FOR LOCKHTML, GROOVYLOCK, AND SBHTML:

This time you need to move two classes around. The figure and container

They are next to each other in the style.css. Think of the Figure as a copy of your wallpaper, and it sits on top of your set wallpaper. The container blurs and cuts the figure. So, Let's say I want to change where the widget is on my lockscreen. That means I need to change what part of the "cut out" wallpaper is blurred, and where that wallpaper will actually need to move too to keep the blur-wallpaper and background inline.
I want to move my widget down

	BEFORE:
	figure {
	margin-top:0px;
	margin-left:0px;
	position:absolute;
	width:320px;
	height:568px;
	-webkit-mask-image:url(../Images/overlay.png);
	overflow:hidden;}

	.container { position:relative;
	margin-Top:0px;
	margin-left:0px;
	width:320px;
	height:568px;}

	AFTER:
	figure {
	margin-top:-20px;
	margin-left:20px;
	position:absolute;
	width:320px;
	height:568px;
	-webkit-mask-image:url(../Images/overlay.png);
	overflow:hidden;}

	.container { position:relative;
	margin-Top:20px;
	margin-left:0px;
	width:320px;
	height:568px;}

So, all you need to do is change the margin for top. However, the amount you move with the figure, you must move the opposite amount with the container. This is necessary to keep the blur and wallpaper in line.

HINTS:
1.Moving your widget down
-Container: margin-top is a positive number
-Figure: margin-top is negative
2.Moving your widget up
-Container: margin-top is negative
-Figure: margin-top is positive
3.Moving your widget right
-Container: margin-left is a positive number
-Figure: margin-left is negative
4.Moving your widget left
-Container: margin-left is negative
-Figure: margin-left is positive

I have been making auto-blur widgets since last april. I haven't officially released any because I was waiting to finish my theme. Once Cataracs came into the spotlight, I was tempted to make it auto blur also. I recently came out with a "setup" post showing off the auto-blur Cataracs. I wanted to talk to Winneonsword more about how to release it; however, we haven't had the oppurtunity to talk in detail. As everyone knows he just updated Cataracs too auto-blur. I used the blur.js API when I first started researching it, but it isn't as great as I wanted it to be. I ended up finding something I consider reliable. Anyways, this is it!
